CATEGORY: PHOTOGRAPHS
Directly from the archive of famed photographer Richard Selby (1933, London, England), is this vintage gelatin silver print. Published in his monograph 'Know Your Number" from 1991. At the height of his career, Richard Selby belonged to a group of photographers that worked for Twen Magazine, like Helmut Newton, Sam Haskins, Jeanloup Sieff, David Hamilton, Wim Wenders and Will McBride. Also in the 1970s, he photographed the first Playmate outside the U.S.A. for Playboy Germany. Please read his complete biography here.
Hand signed, titled and dated. Please note that Selby never issued prints in a limited edition. The tonality, sharpness, contrast and technical presence of the prints are fabulous. The number stated on the print refers to the moment inventory of the archive was made. The number 3/10 means that in 2015 (when the archive was reviewed) there were 10 prints in that size of that photograph in stock. No new prints are and will not be produced, since many negatives were lost. The last images (Book + Richard Selby signing work) are for reference only.
