Biography
Ton Huijbers is a Dutch photographer (Tegelen, 1949). He lives and works in Grevenbicht and Heerlen. He was the winner of the European Photography of the Year Award in 1987 for his photograph The Family. As a photographer of the imaginary and the surreal, he mainly works in family circles with his wife, his sons and his daughter. He is also known for his sequences with surrealistic stagings (diptych, triptych or four-part sequences). With his friends Pierre Segers and Jo Brunenberg, who are also photographers, he made many photo trips, mostly to France and Romania. After Segers' death, he and Brunenberg made the short film "The last farewell". Huijbers is represented in private and public collections in Europe and the United States.
