Biography
Karel Hendrik Wiggers was born on October 13, 1916 in The Hague and also died in this city in 1989. Wiggers was educated at the Royal Academy in The Hague, where his teachers included Sierk Schröder (1903-2002). He later studied at the academy in Munich, where Constantin Gerhardinger (1888-1970) was one of his teachers. Despite his stay abroad, Wiggers lived and worked most of his life in his hometown. Between 1944 and 1969 he was a member of the artists' society Sint Lucas in Amsterdam and between 1969 and 1977 of the Haagse Kunstkring and the Painters' Society Pulchri Studio in The Hague. Wiggers participated in various exhibitions in the Netherlands, including the Haags Gemeentemuseum and Pulchri Studio in The Hague.
